Move-out at UCSD comes fast. Between finals week, packing, returning your room to "as-issued" condition, and figuring out what to do with everything you've accumulated, it's easy to get overwhelmed. This guide breaks the entire process into a clean timeline so you can finish strong, store what matters, and head home (or to your summer plans) without a U-Haul.

    Key UCSD 2026 Move-Out Dates

    • Final Exams: June 6–12, 2026
    • Spring Quarter Ends: June 12, 2026
    • Dorms & Apartments Close: June 13, 2026 at 3:00 PM
    • Summer Session 1 Starts: June 29, 2026

If you're not staying for summer session, you have a tight window between your last final and the 3:00 PM closing deadline. Plan accordingly.

    3 Weeks Before Move-Out

    • Decide what's going home, what's going to summer storage, and what you're getting rid of.
    • Schedule a storage pickup window. UCSD is one of the largest move-out events in San Diego — slots fill up fast.
    • Order packing supplies. You can rent reusable moving bins instead of buying cardboard boxes you'll throw away.

    1 Week Before

    • Start packing non-essentials: winter clothes, books, decor, kitchen items.
    • Donate or sell anything you don't want to ship or store.
    • Confirm your pickup time and address with your storage provider.

What to Store vs. What to Take Home

    Great Candidates for Summer Storage

    • Mini-fridge, microwave, and other small appliances
    • Bedding, comforters, and pillows
    • Textbooks you'll use again
    • Winter clothes and jackets
    • Decor, posters, string lights
    • Bike (yes, we store bikes)

    Take Home or Toss

    • Anything perishable
    • Important documents and electronics you'll use over summer
    • Clothes you wear regularly

Pickup From Every UCSD Housing Area

We coordinate with all of the following:

    • Revelle, Muir, Marshall, Warren, Roosevelt, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Colleges
    • The Village
    • Rita Atkinson Residences
    • Mesa Verde and One Miramar Street (graduate housing)
    • Coast Apartments and Matthews Apartments
    • Off-campus La Jolla, UTC, and Pacific Beach apartments

    How Move-Out Day Actually Works

    1. Pack your items into Juujbox bins or your own boxes/containers.
    2. Meet our team at your dorm or apartment during your scheduled pickup window.
    3. We label and inventory everything, then load it onto our truck.
    4. Your items go to our climate-controlled San Diego warehouse for the summer.
    5. In the fall, request delivery to your new dorm, apartment, or anywhere in San Diego County.

    Pricing

Most UCSD students choose our 5-Item Package at $100/month — enough room for a mini-fridge, bedding, a few boxes of clothes, and your bike. Need less? Try the 3-Item Package at $75/month. More? The 10-Item Package at $175/month covers a full dorm room.

    Common UCSD Move-Out Mistakes

    • Waiting until finals week to book storage. Slots disappear fast in early June.
    • Buying cardboard. Reusable bins are cheaper, stronger, and easier to stack.
    • Storing perishables. Empty your mini-fridge at least 24 hours before pickup.
    • Forgetting about bikes. We pick those up too — no need to abandon yours on the rack.
